About Mini-Musicals

Our History

Mini-Musicals on the Move® (MMotM) started in 2008 when a group of friends in Washington D.C. decided to create “living room-sized performances” of classic Broadway musicals. After our first performance at a facility for seniors, we realized the special meaning of these musical theater stories and songs for the generation that grew up loving them. We were also struck by the therapeutic benefits of performing, storytelling, and singing for both performers and audience members. Today we bring our condensed, one-hour performances to senior facilities throughout the Washington metro region, engaging audiences and keeping minds active with opportunities to sing along with the cast. We also give performances in low-income housing and shelters, as well as in community centers.

An early performance

The blending of such superior voices was almost as good as the Broadway show itself, seen many years ago.  The idea of having the audience join in was exceptional and gave us all an invested part of the performance…I will spread the word to others I know in hopes you can brighten their evenings as well.
