What We Do
Mini‑Musicals on the Move is a volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit community theater group that brings classic musical theater to senior and other underserved living communities. We perform one‑hour versions of well‑known Broadway shows and lively cabaret programs. We also include sing‑alongs in every show, and residents love them.
We travel throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Our focus is senior living, assisted living, memory care, and community centers. If needed, we bring our own sound system and digital piano. If your facility has a piano, we are happy to use it.

Watch the Aging Matters episode featuring Mini-Musicals! This episode is about musical theatre productions staged at older adult communities. Guests Carolyn Oxenford and Daria Antonucci, members of Mini-Musicals on the Move, explain why musical theatre enhances older adults physical, mental, and emotional health. Scenes from a Mary Poppins production and a sing-along of its favorite musical numbers with cast and audience members are featured.
History
Mini‑Musicals on the Move® (MMotM) began in 2008 when a group of friends in Washington, D.C., created small, “living‑room sized” performances of classic Broadway musicals. After our first show at a senior living facility, we saw how much these stories and songs meant to the generation that grew up with them. The benefits of music, storytelling, and singing were clear for both our performers and the audience.
Today we bring our one‑hour musical performances to senior living, assisted living, memory care, and community centers across the Washington metro area. Our shows keep minds active and invite residents to sing along with the cast. We also perform in low‑income housing, shelters, and other community spaces to share the joy of live musical theater with a wider audience.
